The Lune Floor Lamp turns the changing shape of the moon into a piece of illuminated sculpture. Two coloured acrylic sheets sit in front of a circular LED light source. How the Lunar Phase Mechanic Works
The Lune creates its lunar effect with three simple elements: a smaller acrylic sheet, a larger acrylic sheet and a circular LED light positioned behind them. The panels overlap but are not fixed in one arrangement, so you can slide either sheet to control how much of the illuminated circle remains visible.
Start with the panels aligned to reveal a broad, full glow. Move one panel across the other and the curved edge gradually covers the light, creating half-moon and crescent forms. A slight adjustment can alter the balance of colour as well as the phase, making the lamp feel different without changing its position in the room.
The LED light source measures 52 cm in diameter and 6.6 cm deep. It sits behind the acrylic, keeping the hardware visually quiet while the panels carry the colour.
